AGSA strives to promote active engagement with the faculty and students within Anthropology, the student body of OU and the general public. We host several events throughout the year to foster interaction among students and faculty. Below is a list of our main events throughout the year.

Regular AGSA Socials – These events are open to all graduate students, faculty and undergraduates who want to attend and are meant to be a fun inclusive event to bring those in the department together without the pressure of classwork, projects or mentorship. In light of the current pandemic, these socials will either be held virtually via Zoom or outdoors.

AGSA Fall chili cook-off – Held at the beginning of November, this is a fun social gathering and fundraising event for AGSA that challenges the faculty and graduate students to submit their best chili and desserts. Trophies and bragging rights are at stake!

AGSA welcome back picnic Held at the beginning of the Fall semester at a local park, this informal event strives to foster interaction between new incoming graduate students and current students.

Practice sessions for upcoming meeting presentations – Every fall and spring semester, AGSA hosts a practice session for students presenting at upcoming meetings. Students are encouraged to attend and critique presentations in an informal setting.
